Huntington Beach Mazda Catches Up with Huntington Beach Fight Club
September 26 2023 - Huntington Beach Mazda

Huntington Beach Mazda has several strong partnerships throughout Orange County, but Huntington Beach Fight Club is a partnership that particularly stands out. HB Mazda wanted to catch up with HBFC and see what’s new!

Huntington Beach Fight Club is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) local to Huntington Beach and is recognized for offering supportive therapeutic exercise programs to assist individuals with degenerative brain diseases such as Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Many individuals who attend Huntington Beach Fight Club have lost the ability to perform their jobs, drive properly, and carry out simple daily activities that were once easy for them. HBFC utilizes research-based disciplines carried out by dedicated, highly trained professional athlete coaches, Certified trainers, and an Occupational Therapist. This group of vastly qualified individuals provides techniques that strengthen coordination, balance, and overall fitness. These programs also benefit autistic, special needs youth and adults, and those recovering from substance abuse.

Huntington Beach Fight Club offers a variety of programs, including:

Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis Movement Therapy

A nationally certified movement therapy of non-contact boxing. We serve approximately 120 members a year from ages 16 – 80, both newly diagnosed with degenerative brain disease as well as those who have had the disease for 8-10 years.

• Training classes include ring work, heavy bags, jump rope, core work, speed bags, calisthenics, circuit weight training, and overall fitness.

• Two levels of classes are offered depending on abilities. One class is for mobile individuals, the other class is for wheelchairs or those with severe impediments.

Calm Hands, Calm Body

Special needs non-contact boxing therapy serves approximately 30 students with mild to severe autism ranging from verbal to non-verbal.

• Training classes include memorizing patterns in movement, balance, coordination, strength building, and the ability to regulate the body and nervous system. The goal of our special needs program is to provide purpose and meaningful integrative activity in a welcoming environment.

Sober Living

This is a non-contact, overall fitness program. We provide services for 100 participants.

• Training classes include workouts of calisthenics, core work, jump rope, and heavy bags.

• Classes are mobile and held in multiple facilities.

• The objectives are to foster healthy living while nurturing emotional health, positive behavioral responses, and instilling stability after sober living.
